The CPPHR is a coalition of nine not-for-profit NGOs set up in 2000. Its purpose is to promote and develop human rights, democracy and the rule of law in the Republic of Croatia with a view to ensuring the consistent implementation of internationally accepted standards and the legal norms guaranteed by the constitution.

Mission

The Coalition’s mission is to strengthen the role and influence of its members in Croatian civil society.

Position

The Coalition has a legal entity status. The Coalition member organizations are autonomous in their work and acting. Depending on their interests and resources, member organizations are engaged on the common activities and projects under the umbrella of the Coalition.

Objectives

The Coalition intercedes:

• To ensure the inviolability and constitutional guarantee of basic human rights and freedoms;
• To ensure equality of all citizens before the law;
• To secure consistent separation of legislative, executive and judicial powers;
• To verify that the work of public bodies for citizens is based solely on published legal regulations;
• To encourage equal opportunities for men and women in the fields of public service, politics and the economy;
• To uphold the democratic principles of citizens’ rights to participate in public business, especially at local level;
• To promote ethnic, cultural, linguistic and religious self-awareness of national minorities and ethnic communities, free from discrimination and equal before the law.
